The internal quality inspection of veterinary drugs mainly includes three main items: identification, inspection and content determination. The identification can be divided into two items: character identification and identification.

(1) Identification:

① Characters:

It is through the human eyes, nose, mouth and other sensory organs from the appearance of veterinary drugs, color, odor, taste, crystal type and other preliminary identification of veterinary drugs. According to some physical and chemical properties, some physical constants such as solubility, melting point and specific rotation can be used to determine veterinary drugs.

② Identification:

The authenticity of veterinary drugs is judged mainly on the basis of their different chemical structures and different chemical reactions. At the same time, the authenticity of veterinary drugs can be judged by different methods such as infrared absorption spectra, ultraviolet spectra and thin layer chromatography.

(2) Inspection:

Mainly through some limits of inspection, the production or storage of impurities may be produced or introduced to limit, in order to ensure that the purity of veterinary drugs meet the requirements. Usually different preparations require different inspection items. For example, injections should be checked for clarity, loading, pH value, heavy metals and other items, while tablets should be checked for weight differences, disintegration time, etc.

(3) Content determination:

Chemical analysis or physical and chemical analysis methods, such as volumetric analysis, gravimetric analysis, ultraviolet spectrophotometry and high performance liquid chromatography, can accurately determine whether the effective ingredients of veterinary drugs meet the prescribed content standards.

To judge whether the internal quality of a batch of veterinary drugs meets the requirements, it is necessary to take into account the results of the above identification, inspection and content determination. At the same time, referring to the appearance characteristics, any one of the veterinary drugs does not meet the requirements. These veterinary drugs are unqualified products.
