part I. Drug Selection
Avermectin, a new veterinary antiparasitic drug, has the characteristics of spectroscopy, high efficiency and safety. It can also kill many kinds of nematodes, mites, lice, ticks, maggots and other in vivo and in vitro parasites in cattle and sheep.
Part II. Treatment and Health Care
1. The whole herd of cattle and sheep are treated with insect repellent in spring and autumn every year. Before grazing in spring (March-April), insect repellent was carried out to prevent the emergence of parasite climax in spring; in autumn (September-October), insect repellent was carried out once when grazing was transferred to house feeding, so as to facilitate safe overwintering.
2. Spring-born larvae are usually treated for the first time from September to October of the same year. Because young animals are susceptible to nutritional stress such as weaning in autumn, they are vulnerable to parasites.
3. Pregnant mothers can be arranged to repel insects one month before delivery and one month after delivery, which can not only remove the parasites inside and outside the mothers, but also help breast-feeding, and reduce the damage of parasites to the offspring.
4. Fattening cattle and sheep can be dewormed at the beginning of fattening.
5. Deworming of dairy cows (sheep) should be arranged during dry milk period.
Be careful:
(1) When the animals are infected with trematodes and tapeworms, benzothiazole and praziquantel can be used.
(2) The dosage of juvenile animals should be strictly controlled, which can be administered according to 2/3 of the normal dosage.
(3) Repeated administration of extracorporeal parasites in cattle and sheep after 7-10 days was recommended. Sheep need not take medicine bath after two doses of medication.
(4) Cattle and sheep can be slaughtered only after 21 days of medication; cow (sheep) milk can not be used by human within 21 days of medication.
(5) Attention should be paid to environmental hygiene and proper disposal of animal excreta.
